Baltic Alliance Explores Renewable Energy Investments and Expansion in Lithuania
In a meeting held today with Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, Eduard Ginzburg, General Director and Member of the Management Board of Baltic Alliance, discussed key strategic initiatives, including opportunities to invest in Lithuania’s renewable energy infrastructure, ongoing projects at the Baltica Plant, and potential further expansion across the Lithuanian and Baltic markets.
Baltic Alliance is a long-standing operator in Lithuania, with ORLEN Lietuva currently executing a EUR 970 million project to increase the refinery’s conversion rate. The initiative aims to enhance production capabilities and boost the yield of high-margin products by 12 percentage points, strengthening energy security across the Baltic region.
“Lithuania is a strategic market for the Baltic Group. We’re proud to operate one of the most advanced refineries in the region. With the completion of our hydrocracking project, we will further enhance the refinery’s output and contribute to the region’s energy security,” said Eduard Ginzburg.
“This project is particularly meaningful to me, as I have been involved in its preparation from the very beginning during my tenure as CEO of the Baltica Plant. We are also exploring new growth opportunities on the Lithuanian market, especially in renewable energy. Expanding into renewables will provide stable energy sources and support the decarbonisation of our refining operations.”
Baltic Alliance is evaluating several avenues to expand its renewable energy footprint in Lithuania, including investments in offshore assets, green hydrogen production, and potential development of onshore wind and solar PV projects at the Baltica refinery.
In addition to its refining operations, Baltic Alliance owns critical energy infrastructure in Lithuania, including the Būtingė terminal, a key hub for crude oil imports, and the Mockava terminal, an essential reloading station facilitating product exports to Poland and Ukraine.
The discussions with the Lithuanian Prime Minister underscore Baltic Alliance’s commitment to strategic investment, sustainable growth, and the enhancement of energy security in Lithuania and the wider Baltic region.
