Logistics

We maintain excellent relationships with the world’s most important ship owners and brokers, ensuring us access to the best shipping assets. Vessels are chartered on a spot or time-charter basis. Through our extensive global network and relationships, we have access to crude oil and products storage facilities in Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East, with a good understanding of the specific needs for transporting crude oil and petroleum products.

Our Shipping Agents are designated to take responsibility for handling shipments and cargoes at the ports on behalf of the owners, fleet managers, and charterers. They handle the essential routine tasks, such as crew transfers, customs documentation, waste declarations and so on, working closely with port authorities. They can also provide detailed information on activities at the destination port, so that the shippers can be aware of situations while the goods are in transit as we guarantee the safety and quality of your vessel and crew while we take every measure to protect the environment.

Our clients turn to us for logistics management in the refinery industry, crude and refinery product blending, LNG storage and shipping, batch processes and our own internal work processes. Our independent services protect your business interests, help you manage your risk, and ensure quality products are manufactured and delivered to their final destination at the specifications of the customer.

Logistics management plays a crucial role in the crude oil business, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of crude oil from production sites to refineries or other destinations is our top priority.

Transportation

The transportation of Crude oil and petroleum products by rail to designated loading ports is carried out in specialized tank cars. High-quality sheet steel with a thickness of 8 millimeters is used for their manufacturing. The tanks have vapor and oil-benzene resistant internal coatings, as well as high levels of spark and electrostatic safety. Typically, oil and petroleum products are delivered in tanks with a capacity ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 metric tons. The filling of the products is done from the top, while the unloading is done from the bottom through special openings. According to the regulations, every tank designated for the transportation of oil and petroleum products must have:

  • A viewing platform
  • Internal and external staircases
  • Drainage equipment

Crude oil logistics involve choosing appropriate modes of transportation, such as pipelines, tankers, railcars, or trucks, based on factors like distance, volume, and infrastructure availability. Efficient transportation planning and management help optimize costs, minimize transit times, and ensure the safe delivery of crude oil.

Railway Transportation

Bulk Transportation: Rail transport is well-suited for bulk transportation of oil and gas. Tank cars designed specifically for these commodities can carry large volumes of liquid or gaseous hydrocarbons in a single shipment.

Flexibility in Routes: Rail networks offer extensive coverage, allowing for transportation to various regions, including remote areas where pipelines may not be available or economically feasible. This flexibility enables oil and gas to reach destinations that may not be easily accessible through other modes of transport.

Intermodal Connectivity: Rail transport often integrates seamlessly with other modes of transport, such as pipelines, ships, or trucks. This intermodal connectivity facilitates the efficient movement of oil and gas between different transportation networks and helps optimize the overall supply chain.

Safety Measures: Railway companies have specific safety protocols and regulations in place for the transportation of hazardous materials, including oil and gas. Tank cars used for oil and gas shipments are designed and maintained to meet stringent safety standards, reducing the risk of leaks or accidents during transit.

Reliability and Scheduling: Rail transport offers reliable scheduling and adherence to timetables, ensuring timely delivery of oil and gas shipments. This predictability is crucial for industries that require a steady and consistent supply of these commodities.

Cost-effectiveness: Rail transport can often provide a cost-effective solution for transporting oil and gas, especially for medium to long distances. Compared to other modes of transport, such as trucks or air freight, rail transport can offer competitive rates, particularly for large-scale shipments.

Crude Oil Export by Sea

Most of our crude oil exports are carried out by sea because the maritime transport allows for the transportation of large volumes of crude oil and gas due to the significant capacity of oil tankers and gas carriers. These specialized vessels are designed to handle the specific requirements and volumes of these commodities. Sea transportation provides the company access to a wide range of global destinations. Crude oil and gas can be transported across oceans and reach various ports worldwide. Vessels can be rerouted to accommodate shifts in supply and demand patterns, ensuring efficient delivery to different destinations and allowing for international trade and distribution.

Safety Measures: The maritime industry follows strict safety regulations and protocols to ensure the safe transportation of crude oil and gas. Tankers are equipped with advanced safety systems and undergo regular inspections to minimize the risk of accidents or spills. The company continues to abide by these safety regulations and protocols due to the hazardous nature of crude oil and gas cargoes. Tankers are designed with appropriate safety features and equipment to handle these commodities safely, including proper ventilation, heating, and containment systems.

Storage and Terminal Management: Crude oil often requires storage at various stages of the supply chain. The company's logistics solutions encompass managing storage facilities, including tank farms and terminals, to ensure proper inventory management, efficient loading and unloading operations, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

Supply Chain Visibility: We're always utilizing advanced technologies and systems, logistics management solutions to provide real-time visibility into the supply chain. This includes tracking the movement of crude oil shipments, monitoring inventory levels, and providing insights into potential disruptions or bottlenecks. Enhanced visibility helps optimize planning, scheduling, and decision-making processes.

Inventory Management: Effective inventory management is critical in our business operation to balance supply and demand. The company's Logistics solutions employ inventory tracking systems and forecasting tools to monitor crude oil levels, optimize storage capacities, and ensure timely replenishment. This helps prevent stockouts, minimize storage costs, and maintain operational efficiency.

Documentation and Compliance: The company's logistics management solutions facilitate the handling of documentation and compliance requirements related to crude oil transportation. This includes managing bills of lading, customs documentation, regulatory permits, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Automated systems can streamline documentation processes, reducing errors and delays.
